Lot 43 Parking Lot Competition

The designs centers on a simple geometric gabled form hovering over an articulated landscape. This relationship is symbolic of the contrast between the current parking lot state and the historic residential neighbourhood and prominent pedestrian street. With this the pavilion creates tension between the floating roof hovering just above an active community space; a different experience to the everyday hum drum of life adding a little bit of whimsy to users and passersby. Through its playfulness, a heightened sense of place for the site and self-awareness is created in the user. The place becomes iconic, adding to the value of it.
